How to choose a mattress
79
A question that applies to many people today is how to choose a mattress. I'm sure each of us has probably seen a television commercial for Serta and their sleep number beds or come across generic brands of mattresses at Walmart. The criteria needed to choose a mattress include support, size, cost, quality, and location of a shop. The current top five mattresses are listed below as well.
I think it is agreed that the most important issue about choosing the right mattress is to make sure that the softness and support matches that of the buyer's needs. It can be very difficult to find a mattress that provides the right amount of support when two partners have different wants and needs in a mattress. For these type of scenarios, a couple needs to consider purchasing mattresses that have adjustability options and memory cushioning for personalized support and softness. A mattress is basically useless if the user is not getting the support needed at nights.
The size of the mattress, of course, is another issue to consider. Naturally a couple will not purchase a twin mattress but how do you choose between a full, queen, and king size mattress? Everyone has different wants and needs, in regards to the size of a mattress. Generally, overall wider and or larger people will tend to need a queen size mattress or may want to purchase a king for some extra room. Of course that doesn't limit everyone from purchasing king and queen size mattresses, just talk with your partner and figure out how much room you need. It is common for couples to start off with a full sized mattress and later step it up to a queen for some more room. If a partner tends to be a restless sleeper, it is beneficial to get a larger mattress size to accomodate both parties involved. Carefully keep in mind the size of mattress that would best fit any needs.
The cost needs to be mentioned, as it is usually something a buyer needs to look into. The best way to know if you're spending the right amount of money is to find the type of mattress you're looking for and compare it to other ones. Posted are some mattresses you can check out to see what the current prices on some are now.
The quality of a mattress is something to keep in mind as well. Newer couples can afford to go with something a little less then great for quality, generally, because money is usually not flowing out of their ears and once a mattress of lesser quality wears out the couple should be in a better financial situation to replace it with one of higher quality. There are many different ways to specifically describe quality, when it comes to mattresses, but I am referring more to the length of time a mattress will last. If you're about five to ten years into a marriage, atleast, then bumping up to a higher quality mattress may be in order.
The location of the shop in which you are purchasing a mattress is detrimental in a lot of cases. This step has a high amount to do with comparing prices, as a mattress in a furniture outlet may be a little bit more than a buyer wants to pay but mattresses on the internet make shipping and handling fees questionable. Keep your eyes and ears open for sales at outlets selling mattresses to get the prices you can afford. Also keep in mind how you're going to get the mattress to the desired room. An important thing to keep in mind is to purchase from brands and retailers that you trust and may have had experience with in the past, as you're mind will be more at ease. Theres quite a variety of mattresses to choose from so don't be afraid to look for specifics.
The top five mattress brands currently in circulation
1. Serta
Serta mattresses overall contain atleast a third more coils in the mattresses, providing much more comfort and relief. The newer line of Serta mattresses seem to be a little overpriced, but recent models have a high quality and are a great mattress for the cost. Most Serta mattresses have a ten year warranty included.
2. King Koil
King Koil mattresses generally are priced a little bit lower then Serta mattresses are, but there is a small amount of change in quality. King Koil mattresses have a foam encasement that still offers great support but isn't quite up to Serta's standards. Most King Koil mattresses also have a ten year warranty included.
3. Sealy
The Sealy mattress is a very effective mattress, offering a good amount of support at a good price. Sealy mattresses are made with a styrofoam enhanced edge, which can't compete with either King Koil's foam encasements or a Serta mattress, but Sealys are still effective. The coil system that is used in Sealy mattresses is not quite as effective as others, as well.
4. Latex
If you want to save some money and get a decent mattress, look no further. Latex mattresses don't have a coil system but they still offer a good amount of support. Some Latex mattresses are priced fairly high but high resilency Latex mattresses are usually in that good price range to purchase.
5. Simmons
These mattresses specialize in dual comfort abilities. If a partner tends to have a hard time sleeping from their spouse moving around, these mattresses will greatly reduce motion and tremors felt.

serta mattress
Finding the perfect mattress for both you and your spouse can be next to impossible, but thanks for all of the helpful information and ideas. Nice hub.
Interesting how most shoppers spend less than 2 minutes researching on the one piece of item that they will spend the equivalent of 120 days in year sleeping on. Hopefully for those wishing to wake up feeling alive and well they will research before purchasing a mattress.
Here a few tips to add to the already excellent article.
1. If you do not want to be disturbed by the constant turning of your partner and personal space is an issue; when trying out a new bed lie side by side with both your partners arms and yours behind your heads and elbows out. The bed is not big enough if your elbows touch.
2. Your bed should be 4-6 inches(10 -15cm) longer than the tallest person
3. If you are 6 ft tall (1.8m) than consider a bed longer than the standard bed
